My Use of Technology

The unique structure of my school makes the use of technology a very challenging task. My school has its main office in midtwon Manhattan where all the administrative work takes place, while the classrooms are located in many different agencies around the city. Most of the sites around the city are ONE teacher sites. Since we work in collaboration with these agencies, we provide the instructional piece and the agencies provide the space and furniture. The space is often a single room made into a classroom where everything takes place, registration, testing, paperwork, and instruction. This environment is very challenging for instructors because it limits the use of resources such as technology.

I am currently traveling around the city to different classrooms to provide support for instruction. I bring with me my personal laptop with several interactive lessons and a GED software that I use for tutoring or instruction to individual or small groups of students. I am working on creating a Technology Task Force to help bring ideas and more technology into our classrooms.
